The United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF) is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to human health. Grounded in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, global health governance, and the vision of a shared future for mankind, UNHIF is committed to promoting the development of the global health industry and improving global health governance. As an international organization and funding platform, it serves as another important global health entity distinct from the World Health Organization.
The United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF) is committed to its mission of "promoting the development of the health industry, advancing global health governance, and enhancing human health and well-being." Positioned as a leader in driving the health industry, a facilitator in applying health technologies, and a promoter of health-related public welfare initiatives, UNHIF is dedicated to the significant tasks of establishing a new global health order and building a global health community. It actively plays an important and leading role in global health governance and the improvement of human health, contributing substantially to the realization of a shared future for humanity and striving to create a healthier and better world.
Organizational Structure
The organizational structure of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF) comprises the Council, Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, Presidium, Executive Committee, Secretariat, and several standing functional departments. This integrated framework forms a robust management and operational system with rational division of labor and effective collaboration, enabling UNHIF to carry out its various operations, exercise its designated functions, and fulfill its purpose, guiding principles, and mission.
Council
Council
The Council serves as the supreme authority of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF). It is composed of representatives from the senior, middle, and grassroots levels within the Foundation and convenes its annual General Council Meeting at the headquarters each January. Its primary responsibilities include reviewing key reports and proposals such as the work reports of the President and CEO, development plans, investment proposals, and financial budgets.
Board of Directors
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the highest decision-making body of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF), composed of 25 director-shareholders. It convenes a regular annual meeting of all shareholders at year-end to discuss and approve a series of major resolutions and matters concerning UNHIF. When special circumstances arise, interim board meetings may be convened to deliberate on countermeasures.
Advisory Committee
Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee, whose full title is the Advisory Committee, serves as the supreme think tank of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF). Its primary functions are to provide constructive opinions and key recommendations for the overall work of UNHIF as well as for the activities of the Board of Directors, Presidium, and Executive Committee. It regularly offers advisory consultation, decision-making support, and solution proposals.
Presidium
Presidium
The Presidium serves as the supreme executive body of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF). It exercises all powers delegated by the Board of Directors, implements board resolutions, and oversees daily management operations. Composed of a rotating chairperson, multiple honorary chairs, one executive chairperson, and nine executive vice-chairs, its members serve five-year terms with eligibility for reappointment. Under the Presidium, the Executive Committee oversees regional committees, specialized committees, and the General Office.
Secretariat
Secretariat
The Secretariat serves as the permanent administrative body of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF), with its daily operations directed by a Secretary-General appointed by the Board of Directors. It comprises several functional departments responsible for routine secretarial work, including the Office of the Secretary-General, the Department of Conference Affairs, the Department of Languages and Translation, the Department of Reception Services, and the Department of Documentation and Protocol. As a pivotal administrative entity connecting strategic leadership with operational execution, the Secretariat is dedicated to serving all other UNHIF agencies.
Regional Committee
Regional Committee
The Regional Committee serves as the secondary resident office of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF). It comprises five regional departments: Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania. Each department further establishes multiple tertiary resident representative offices, such as the Representative Office in China and the Representative Office in the United Kingdom, which are responsible for handling daily operations in their respective host regions.

The Specialized Committees constitute one of the secondary executive bodies of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF). There are 19 such committees, including the Fund Management Committee, Membership Fees Committee, Donations Committee, Finance Committee, Incubation Committee, Project Committee, Conference and Exhibition Committee, Expert Committee, Health Rescue Committee, Health Technology Committee, Health Investment Committee, Health Management Committee, Health Food Committee, Medical and Pharmaceutical Committee, Traditional Chinese Medicine Committee, Child Health Committee, Health and Elderly Care Committee, Health and Sports Committee, and Health and Environment Committee. Each committee is responsible for its respective daily operational affairs.
General Office
General Office
The General Office is one of the secondary administrative bodies of the United Nations Health Industry Foundation (UNHIF), operating under the direct management of the Executive Committee. It is primarily responsible for all administrative affairs of UNHIF and oversees five functional bureaus: the Administration Management Bureau, the Budget and Finance Bureau, the Supervision and Audit Bureau, the Spokesperson's Bureau, and the External Liaison Bureau.
